Food Pantry

The Shelter Island Food Pantry - although a separate entity from the Church - is housed in and offers its services at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church. With the Pantry open two days a week offering both morning and afternoon/evening hours, the volunteers create opportunity for many Islanders who have food insecurity to come get what they need without questions.

During the summer months, the Food Pantry receives special donations of fresh vegetables from Sylvester Manor. Throughout the year donations made by local individuals, groups and churches fund the purchase of staples and fresh food.

Volunteers and REcipients

The all-volunteer Pantry is served completely by local people. Many local individuals bring shelf stable, non perishable, unopened, up-to-date items. Many groups - school, religious and civic - have food drives and fund raisers to keep the Food Pantry stocked.

The Food Pantry serves only local Shelter Islanders offering those who need it a chance to get the food items they need.

The Food Pantry is currently headed by Carrie Wood who can be reached by email at Donations can be dropped off at the church and financial donations can be dropped off also or mailed to Shelter Island Presbyterian Church / Food Pantry,  PO Box 612, Shelter Island, NY 11964.
