Mondays & Fridays: in the Fellowship Hall

DINNER BELL:

This program serves up hot, nutritious meals and a fun social time for participants age 60 and older. We meet every Monday and Friday, at noon at the Fellowship Hall in the SI. Presbyterian Church. A suggested, anonymous voluntary contribution is $4 per meal. All donations are used to expand the program. Sign-up is made in advance at a luncheon or by calling Emily Needham at 749-4111..

Funding for this program is partially provided by New York State Office for the Aging, Suffolk County Office for the Aging, and the Town of Shelter Island.

The Shelter Island Food Pantry - although a separate entity from the Church - is housed in and offers its services at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church. With the Pantry open two days a week offering both morning and afternoon/evening hours, the volunteers create opportunity for many Islanders who have food insecurity to come get what they need without questions.

During the summer months, the Food Pantry receives special donations of fresh vegetables from Sylvester Manor. Throughout the year donations made by local individuals, groups and churches fund the purchase of staples and fresh food.
